Efforts of Chinese government has lead to a large increase of medical tourists in the country, as patients from west and Asia as well are pouring in to the country. Yet the full potential of China as a medical-travel destination is still unexplored.

There are number of reasons for medical tourists to choose healthcare in China. In addition to having an advanced medical infrastructure and internationally accredited hospitals, the country offers health care at relatively low costs. Western-trained, English-speaking doctors makes things more comfortable for overseas patients.

Medical tourist visiting China is required to obtain a Tourist (L) Visa which will cover for tourism, sightseeing, visits with friends or relatives, medical treatment, and other private purposes. Normally this type of visa allows 3-months stay from the date of entry.
