General

Bethesda Care and Counselling Services Centre (BCCSC) is a voluntary welfare organization and a member of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS). Since our inception, we have depended on voluntary donations from individuals and organizations to run our operations and services.

In 1996, Bethesda Care & Counselling Services Centre (BCCSC) was started with a vision of reaching out and meeting the needs of the community in Bedok area. Since then, BCCSC has been serving the children, youths, families and the elderly in need within our community.

Our range of services include providing affordable before-and-after school care services through the Integrated Special Student Care Centre (ISSCC); caring for the ageing needs of seniors through the Elderly Services; guiding families and youths in life’s challenges through the Family Services, as well as assisting families through the Welfare Services.

Services

Elderly Services

Meals-on-Wheels (MOW)
Two cooked meals are delivered twice a day to the doorstep of the elderly who have problems preparing meals or purchasing them.

Medical Escort and Transport (MET)
Sends elderly members to and fro for their periodic medical check-up or follow-up at the hospitals.

Criteria for Home Help Serivces.

  • Person age 55 years and above
  • Frail and homebound
  • Living alone or with another frail elderly or caregiver who is unable to provide assistance
  • Without a caregiver during the day
  • Unable to prepare complete meals or obtain food from other sources but able to feed themselves
  • Require assistance in their activities of daily living
  • Require regular medical check-ups and follow-ups

Active Ageing Programme
Our Active Ageing Programme continues to grow with more participants joining in the activities organized. With continual support from South East CDC, our weekly activities engage over 200 active participants.

Family Services

Counselling
Counselling Services is available to everyone, regardless of race or religion, who has a need for such support. BCCSC also receives cases referred by other government and community bodies such as schools, hospitals and religious institutions. The areas of counselling include marital, interpersonal, financial, family-related, elder care, behavioural and education-related issues.

School Social Work
The School Social Work programmes focuses on helping at-risk youths reach their potential by developing their character through various activities, mentoring and counselling. We provide various programmes that cater to the needs of primary and secondary school students. BCCSC is in partnership with various institution in providing the following services:

  • Service Learning Projects
  • Character Building Camp
  • Parent-Child Bonding Activity
  • Teacher Consultation Session

Youth Club
Family Services further runs a Youth Club to provide a safe place for youths to build healthy friendship and habits. In Youth Club, platforms are created for the youths to learn values of respect, trust, courage and how to accept others and work as a team. The youths also learn new skills and are facilitated to build resilience as they make go through Secondary School.

Welfare Services

Bursary Award Programme
Each year, we extend this programme to deserving students from schools within our vicinity who can potentially benefit from this programme. For the past few years, we have blessed over 100 primary and secondary school students annually.

Food Rations Assistance
During difficult times, many families and individuals need a practical helping hand to help them these tough times. BCCSC assists by providing monthly food rations.
